CHARA Array K ′ - band Measurements of the Angular Dimensions of Be Star Disks
نویسندگان
چکیده
We present the first K -band, long-baseline interferometric observations of the northern Be stars γ Cas, φ Per, ζ Tau, and κ Dra. The measurements were made with multiple telescope pairs of the CHARA Array interferometer, and in every case the observations indicate that the circumstellar disks of the targets are resolved. We fit the interferometric visibilities with predictions from a simple disk model that assumes an isothermal gas in Keplerian rotation. We derive fits of the four model parameters (disk base density, radial density exponent, disk normal inclination, and position angle) for each of the targets. The resulting densities are in broad agreement with prior studies of the IR excess flux and the Current address: Physical Sciences Department, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, 600 S. A near-infrared interferometric survey of debris disk stars I. Probing the hot dust content around Eridani and τ Ceti with CHARA/FLUOR
Context. The quest for hot dust in the central region of debris disks requires high resolution and high dynamic range imaging. Nearinfrared interferometry is a powerful means to directly detect faint emission from hot grains. Aims. We probed the first 3 AU around τCeti and Eridani with the CHARA array (Mt Wilson, USA) in order to gauge the 2 μm excess flux emanating from possible hot dust grain...

We present observations of the A7 IV–V star Alderamin ( Cep, HR 8162, HD 203280) from the Georgia State University CHARA Array. These infrared interferometric angular size measurements indicate a noncircular projected disk brightness distribution for this known rapid rotator. The interferometric observations aremodeled as arising from an elongated rigid atmosphere, with apparent polar and equat...
متن کاملThe Angular Diameter of λ Boötis
Using the CHARA Array and the Palomar Testbed Interferometer, the chemically peculiar star λ Boötis has been spatially resolved. We have measured the limb darkened angular diameter to be θLD = 0.533 ± 0.029 mas, corresponding to a linear radius of R⋆ = 1.70±0.10 R⊙. The measured angular diameter yields an effective temperature for λ Boo of Teff = 8887±242 K. Based upon literature

Context. Only a handful of debris disks have been imaged up to now. Due to the need for high dynamic range and high angular resolution, very little is known about the inner planetary region, where small amounts of warm dust are expected to be found. Aims. We investigate the close neighbourhood of Vega with the help of infrared stellar interferometry and estimate the integrated K-band flux origi...
متن کاملInterferometric radii of bright Kepler stars with the CHARA Array: θ Cygni and 16 Cygni A and B
We present the results of long-baseline optical interferometry observations using the Precision Astronomical Visual Observations (PAVO) beam combiner at the Center for High Angular Resolution Astronomy (CHARA) Array to measure the angular sizes of three bright Kepler stars: θ Cygni, and both components of the binary system 16 Cygni. Supporting infrared observations were made with the Michigan I...
